Giant Bomb Achievement Tracker

Jeff Gerstman and his homies over at Giantbomb.com have added an extremely interesting new feature to their site.  Those of us that love our Achievement scores have been limited to seeing our friends achievements and anyone we bump in to on Xbox Live.  Well, that is no longer the case.  Giant Bomb’s tracking system not only tracks your overall gamerscore, but also your individual numbers for each game you have played.

It takes your score and compares it to the thousands of other users on thier website.  Using a simple algorithm, (I think that’s the right word) the system grades you on your progress against the progress of others and attaches a letter grade.  This creates a new level of competition.  You literally get to compete with thousands of gamers without the unpleasantness of actually having to compete with them.  What a concept…

I know alot of websites offer score tracking, but GB.com is the first I have seen that grades you.  The percentage of players that have an achievement also dictates whether an achievement is rare (another stat GB.com conveniently tracks).  Oh, and to sweeten the pot, you can also attach your World of Warcraft account to have those achievements graded as well.  Apparently they are also working to get Steam achievements.

As you can see, I’ve got some work to do on Prince of Persia, but I will definitely keep using this to see how I stack up.  Ok Sony, it’s time to unlock your metadata, so GB can play with your trophies…we will be here waiting.
